About
Nestled in the charming Centerbrook, Connecticut, Pizza Pub Essex is more than just a pizza place; it’s a culinary cornerstone, known for its hearty fare and inviting ambiance. Located at 15 Main St, this eatery has been a local favorite, attracting both residents and visitors with its delectable offerings and welcoming vibe.
Stepping inside, you will find a warm and friendly atmosphere, where the staff is dedicated to ensuring a memorable dining experience. As Gina Merkel eagerly shares, her recent visit was nothing short of fabulous, exclaiming, “Our meal was GREAT.” It’s clear that Pizza Pub Essex knows how to satisfy cravings with its mouthwatering pizza, savory wraps, and vibrant salads. Veteran customer Paige Esposito raves that the food is excellent, boasting a special mention of the buffalo chicken wrap, which she describes as "yummy." With such glowing testimonials, one can't help but feel excited to explore the menu.
The variety at Pizza Pub Essex is another highlight. From the crispy, battered regular fries to the curly fries that could rival those of Arby’s, the sides complement the main dishes beautifully. One bite of their pizza and it's clear why many, like amr abo alaial, have been loyal patrons for a decade, touting it as the “best pizza place” they’ve ever encountered. The balance of flavors, along with the freshness of ingredients, really sets this establishment apart.
However, it's worth noting that some customers, like Donald Maloy, have expressed concerns regarding pricing. He noted that a medium pizza can reach up to $30, which may come as a surprise for some, especially in a community bustling with options. Yet, for the quality and satisfaction derived from each bite, many argue it’s a price worth paying.
Whether you’re dropping by for a quick bite or gathering with friends, Pizza Pub Essex promises a delicious experience that will have you coming back for more. With its commitment to quality and a diverse menu that caters to all tastes, it’s no wonder this neighborhood gem is beloved by so many. So why not give it a try? Your taste buds will thank you!
“ Our visit was FABULOUS.. I haven't been in Connecticut in a very long time. Our meal was GREAT. I'll DEFINITELY be back for that code special.. thanks ”
“ You have a great pizza guys, but the price for a medium pizza is way to high, I almost paid 30 bucks for mine. But I did get a 16oz bottle of coke with it, I think It will be the last time I order from their, unfortunately for the owner, living in a community like this, there are other pizza type people who think the same thing. It will only take time. ”
“ My favorite place , I sustained my entire pregnancy on the salads and Diet Coke lol And post partum I think I was a daily customer . The employees are wonderful and the food is always excellent . The buffalo chicken wrap is so yummy . The pizza slaps and the wings are great . We’ve never had a bad meal . ”
“ Tons of options for food and beverages. Everything was awesome and cooked to my requested doneness. Hot and fresh, the regular fries are battered and entirely way too delicious for a pizza place. The curly fries might even be better than Arby's, dare I say? The dining room is still open with covid, but very limited seating (obviously). Photos included. Parking sucks, no lines to indicate where to park. It's definitely worth the annoyance of figuring out where to park for the quality of the food. ”
“ Best pizza place I have ever had, been going there for 10 years, food is delicious, service is very friendly and their prices are reasonable too ”
“ Moving into a new town there are several things you wish for and I would have to say a “Go To Pizza” restaurant is near the top of the list. Enter Pizza Pub RIGHT DOWN THE STREET. In a time where hoity toity places trying to impersonate real pizza restaurants are running rampant charging people hundreds of dollars for thin dough, arugula and a splash of sauce, the Pizza Pub is a 7-days a week open until 10p oasis. Pizza Pub is not only a classic Greek Pizza restaurant with a menu to please everyone, but they are also SUPERHEROES. Moving here had no kitchen – Pizza Pub to the rescue; trades people doing work at the house - Pizza Pub to the rescue; surprised by 6 hungry teenagers - Pizza Pub to the rescue; 10 more people show up unexpectedly - Pizza Pub to the rescue; every placed closed at 9p - Pizza Pub to the rescue. Look – Pizza Pub’s cheese pizza is hands down one of the best I have ever had period. Funny when I hear the occasional “Greek Pizza is good but greasy” here is a reminder: first, at the fancy pizza places when a pizza droops with, well “grease,” it’s called oil, olive oil, heart healthy oil – but at a real pizza place the same oil is called grease. Second IF it bothers you, blot with a paper napkin. Here is what I know every time I get a Pizza Pub small cheese pizza - it is served hot. Cheese is perfectly melted with that slight browning on top. Pull a piece out and YES you can pick the whole piece up, no droop. A perfect crunch from first bite to last. When I want a little something extra well, I add bacon and jalapeno peppers to my cheese pizza. And the ultimate test of great pizza – one no one likes to talk about – when you wake up in the morning and you head to the fridge for leftover pizza – I’m addicted to my morning slice of Pizza Pub pie! Big menu so you will just have to try what you want – here is what I or others have had and all has been good: Pizza, BLT Club, chicken and cheese quesadilla, chicken nuggets, French fries, Grinders – tuna, American mix, chicken parm, ham, Genoa, Italian Combo and steak & cheese. Wings are solid, salads are substantial especially with grilled chicken, melts are a trip, and calzones are cheesy goodness. Here is at least one hopeful result of this review: those of you who enjoy paying 35 for a “pizza” go ahead, take your friends out, pay the triple figure bill then when no one is looking order Pizza Pub’s 8.50 cheese pizza and remember what pizza really is. ”
“ Stopped by waiting for the train. The pizza was great. Crispy crust, delicious toppings, I would 10 out of 10 come back here. ”
“ Stopped here for some grub during road trip to the mid-west. 20 min wait for 2 mediums, which I expected. The mediums are quite big! :) They close at 9:30pm, which helped with our situation. They have table seating as well as stool seating. Bathroom was clean. Staff very friendly. Pizza hot and looks delicious. Could not figure out where exactly to park but we made it work. ”
